#Black magic davinci resolve mac professionalI personally cruised the web and saw that tons of video show you that only the render is to be slow on M1 series, but for the rest, almost everybody - even professional pessimistic ones - is amazed about what a simple M1 MB or Mini is able to handle (including more than 4K and candle tests etc.). I've come to the conclusion that upgrading old hardware starts to be really irrelevant these days. #Black magic davinci resolve mac upgradeI would also not have to worry about fine-tuning my PC and listening to the constant hum of fans.Īnyone having regrets on their M1 purchase after editing as you normally would on a PC? I have a feeling I will not see much of an improvement from my current setup and then not be ready for any upgrade for two years. #Black magic davinci resolve mac macIf I could pay $1k every two years for a new Mac Mini (base model with a couple of upgrades), I would be close to my yearly upgrade costs with my PC. My next upgrade is a video card, but looking at what I want to pay for a decent graphics card, I could buy the new Mac Mini for a bit more. Initial investment 3 years ago: $1.5k self-built PCĪs my computer struggles too much with my workflow, I upgrade parts. If I could get a decent editing experience from a Mac within my current budget, I would love to do that. I'm a low budget video producer, but I'm surrounded by Apple products in my house. Steve Jobs picked the right hobby toy.I wanted to see how people who have the new Mac Mini M1 edition are feeling after editing a project. Apparently the Pavlovian response doesn’t apply to televisions like it does to computers. Now I don’t live in Los Angeles, but I would have thought some here would want to try the latest and greatest HDR approach on their 4K television. Most people used the sRGB, many used 709, no one used the HDR option. Reality check: for my latest theatrical recording I produced three deliverables: one sRGB for internet viewing with a computer, Rec.709 for internet viewing on HDTV, and one ST.2084 for 4K television sets. #Black magic davinci resolve mac proI felt so hungry before I gobbled up a big Mac Pro 2019, but now I’m thinking that still does what I need (4K/HD) and I’ll just watch my litter mates respond to the dinner bell for awhile. They do provoke a Pavlovian response that has some salivating to consume the latest dinner. But they are compelling for a lot of people for a lot of reasons at many different price points. These new and future choices are competitively priced but not inexpensive and may have Apple’s usual 40% or higher margins. The major speed and throughput limitation of the 2019 is the old PCI Gen 3 system bus which the Mac Pro 2022 should abandon. The 2019 can provide up to 1.5TB of memory, several GPUs, several modular screens, several large internal storage options, and several third-party internal cards. This trend will make the next Mac Pro 2022 quite different than the Mac Pro 2019. However at the same time the SoC is less modular with so many separate components physically integrated on the chip so no more user memory upgrades or discrete GPU upgrades. With the Mac Mini/Studio and the Mac Pro, Apple is putting more emphasis on a modular approach in terms of encouraging the display screen and the computer being separate modules unlike the iMac. Who knows what additional changes may be coming from BMD that may make better use of SoC architecture as implemented in the M-series iterations. Speaking of Resolve, that’s interesting because of the recent updates that tune the app to work with Apple Silicon. That said there are calm and reasonable reviewers on YouTube who are popular and still measured in their approach. Geekbench is interesting but I like to hear from Barefeats with their calm and reasonable conclusions compared to the typical click-seeking YouTube hawker. Perhaps in another week or two we’ll see comparative performance tests using relevant applications such as Resolve.
